今の課題は日本語を使う。

僕は、まだ日本語で自己紹介しませんでした。「どうして日本に来た」はよく聞く質問。最近、もう少し日本人はこのブログを読んでくれたので、ちょっと自己紹介しようと思った。

2009の一月に日本に来ました。理由は、二つがあります。

その前は、カリフォーニア州のサンフランシスコに住んでいた。それは実家と近い町です。ちょっと人気がある会社で働いたんですけど、日々の仕事はあまり面白くなった。だから新しい生活を試してみたかった。

なんで日本を選んだ？それは写真のこと。以前から写真について興味を持ってた。家族には何人の写真家がいるのです。子供の頃からカメラは自分のまわりにあった。高校でちゃんと暗室の使い方も勉強した。その時代から写真は本当に好きだった。大学はスペイン語の文学専して写真はあまり考えなかったです。でもサンフランシスコでカメラマンの友達ができてもう一回写真には考えた。日本に働いたアメリカ人の友達を見に行った。その時は、日本の写真文化を見るとびっくりしました。そんなカメラや雑誌やギャラリーはまだ見たことなかったから。アメリカに戻ってずっと日本に住むことは想像した。

長い説明ですが、それは日本に来た理由です。真実を言うと、サンフランシスコでは写真の会話はぜんぜんしなかった。東京にいると写真の勉強になりますね。できたら、今からも何年間日本に住んでみたい。
